#TakeActionTuesday: Yesterday marked the start of Lesbian Visibility Week — a time to honor trailblazers, celebrate accomplishments, and show solidarity with lesbian girls and women across sports. 🏳️🌈
We are grateful for the women who overcame barriers and paved the way for greater inclusion, like:
🎾Billie Jean King: Founder of the Women's Sports Foundation and the Women’s Tennis Association. A tennis icon and 39-time Grand Slam champion, King has long used her platform to advocate for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights.
🏉Phaidra Knight: WSF Past President, current WSF Captain, pro MMA fighter and the 2010 USA Rugby Player of the Decade. Knight is the only African American to be a member of both World Rugby and USA Rugby Hall of Fames.
🏈Katie Sowers: A football coach and formerly an assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers, where she made history in 2020 as the first openly gay and first woman to coach in a Super Bowl.
