Today, Fitchburg State University announced the hiring of Rebecca Brown as the first-ever head coach for the women’s ice hockey program. The Falcons will begin competition in the 2027-2028 season and will become the seventh member of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (#MASCAC) for women’s ice hockey. Brown, a native of Steamboat Springs, CO, graduated from Utica College (now University) in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing & earned her master’s in healthcare administration in 2022. After one season at Norwich, Brown played five seasons for the Pioneers as she wore the ‘C’ in her last two seasons. In 107 career games, she put together 38 goals & 41 assists for 79 points. She is second in the program’s history for most career blocked shots (56) and career power-play shot percentage (18.6%).
