What no one tells you about having twins is that you can’t give 100% to both babies at the same time. And that’s a hard thing for me to sit with. Because it’s not just about meeting their needs (like with feedings, diaper changes, and soothing), it’s about wanting each of them to feel fully seen, fully held and fully yours. But the reality? Sometimes one is in your arms and the other is waiting. Sometimes you’re tending to one while your mind is already thinking about or anticipating the other. It’s this constant, quiet balancing act of who needs me more right now and can one wait? How do I stretch myself just enough to hold both? They came into the world together but they are not the same.
