What’s public transport called in your country?
I love sharing the beautiful side of Ghana, but today, I want to show something the reflects the everyday life of Ghanaians. Come with me to try public transportation in Ghana.
Public Buses trotro in Ghana are the affordable way to get around. Each one has a driver and a mate, the bus attendant. The mate runs the show—calling out stops, collecting fares, and helping passengers get off at the right spot.
It’s fast, chaotic, and the backbone of daily life here. Experiencing it gave me a whole new appreciation for the hustle and heart of Ghanaians.
I love how for the duration of the ride, everyone in the bus is basically family. It just gives you this feel of belonging. It’s not the most comfortable way to travel but the jokes, laughs and people in there make it so worth it
