Cuba, like any destination, has its own safety considerations. Generally, Cuba is considered safe for travelers, with a low crime rate compared to many other countries. The people of Cuba are known for their warmth and hospitality, which I had the privilege of experiencing. As a black woman travelling Solo, I felt safe, at home and celebrated all the time. Both men and women would call me names like “preciosa” and “Niña bonita”This made me feel at home and welcomed without feeling uncomfortable or out of place. However, it is always important to remember to exercise precautions like safeguarding your belongings, be aware of your surroundings, and avoid risky areas, especially at night.
