Finding a pocket of calm in Zurich? Easy enough – just head down to the lake.
Finding a pocket of calm in today’s investing landscape? Not so easy, says Ann-Katrin Petersen, Chief Investment Strategist for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe at the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII).
Why? It used to be that investors would turn to government bonds when stocks fell. But supply constraints from factors like U.S. tariffs and shrinking workforces in developed economies are pushing up on inflation – and government bond yields. That leaves investors fewer places to hide in a downturn.
Shifts like these, Ann-Katrin explains, have led BII to rethink its approach to building long-term portfolios. Join her for a walk around Switzerland’s Lake Zurich in the latest episode of #BIIOntheground.
