A collision between a commuter train and a long-distance train near Jakarta on Monday April 27 has left at least 15 people dead and 88 injured.
The crash happened in Bekasi, where a women-only carriage bore the brunt of the impact, with all victims reported to be women.
Infrastructure minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono confirmed the death toll as rescue teams worked to free passengers trapped in the wreckage.
Officials said the commuter train had been stationary near a crossing when it was struck, possibly after a vehicle stopped on the tracks.
