I said this to someone today: it’s our kids’ world and Matt & I are just living in it. It literally feels that way 99.9% of the time and I know it’s only going to get busier as the girls get older and find themselves & their needs changing. Matt & I wouldn’t survive if there was a default parent in this household - and I can’t say this switch happened over night. If it was left to one of us to decide dinner, arrange school pickups, remember to rsvp to birthday parties, buy the gift, register for extra curriculars, sign-up for camps, do groceries, re-arrange work schedules to take care of kids, plan vacations, SCHEDULE date nights - geez the list could go on but you get the point, it’s just TOO much. It took A LOT of communication, realization, and honesty to understand that we both need to pull up and show up for our kids but also each other.
