TW: Mention of loss. . The month of October has always been a favourite month around here: with the leaves changing colours, the brisk air, the endless activities. . But this year, during this month, we’re also reminded of how quickly life can change. I’ve spoken about what happened before the birth of our second last fall on other platforms but truthfully haven’t had the courage yet to share much here. With permission from my hubby, I will be sharing how last October changed in a way that didn’t seem real. I want to share with all of you the feelings of losing a parent unexpectedly and how we managed emotions and spoke about grief and loss with our toddler at the time. We didn’t shy away from it. We still don’t. . It was a difficult time. A week before delivering our second we were planning an unexpected funeral for a parent. It felt like a terrible nightmare. It still feels surreal.
