The month of April is recognized as International Cesarean Awareness month. I’m a proud c-birth mama times two. Yes, I just called it a c-birth. Let’s change the narrative here. We gave birth. Period. . After a traumatizing and emotional experience with my first emergency c-birth, I never thought I would elect to have a scheduled one for my second. I did my research. I thought long and hard. My decision was made. It came as a surprise to some that I decided to have a repeat c-birth. I didn’t have to justify my decision to anyone. This was my choice. My right. . I have an immense amount of respect for all women who decide to choose this journey of motherhood. Giving birth is a beautiful thing, irrespective of how our babies are delivered. And we’re allowed to grieve if we didn’t give birth the way we had hoped. Our feelings are valid, always. . But if there’s one little piece I can leave you with, it’s this: be proud, mama’s!
