Buying a laundromat wasn’t in our 5 year plan. We’d spent time in laundromats during our digital nomad era, traveling around the country in an RV with our dog. When we got settled in Charleston, Jon found it listed on the business classifieds, and we went and checked it out. It needed a ton of work (I was definitely overwhelmed at first!!) but we came together with a vision to make it a bright & homey place. After we bought it, we kept it running for 6 months as-is so we could learn about it: how does it run, what days are busiest, who’s our clientele, and how could we make it better? Then we closed it for 3 months, put paper over the windows, and gave it some new life. We re-opened with a free laundry day for the community, and it was such a fun way to celebrate it opening again!
