Mayo Clinic researchers — in collaboration with University of Florida experts — have identified a noninvasive imaging biomarker that could help diagnose DLB earlier and more accurately using free-water diffusion MRI. 💬 “We need better, noninvasive biomarker tests that patients can access easily,” said neurologist Dr. Shannon Chiu, who began her research training under UF’s Dr. David Vaillancourt, a pioneer in using free-water imaging in Parkinson’s disease. This work could pave the way for earlier diagnosis and better clinical trial readiness for one of the most commonly misdiagnosed forms of dementia. 🔗 Click the link to read more about this UF-Mayo breakthrough in Movement Disorders. mayoclinic.org/medical-professionals/neurology-neurosurgery/news/study-outlines-possible-tool-for-dlb-diagnosis/mac-20585941 #LewyBodyDementia #Neuroimaging #DLB #UFHealth #MayoClinic #NeuroscienceResearch #Neurodegeneration #ParkinsonsResearch #BrainHealth
