One thing I like to do to brand myself at work is to "own" a Slack emoji or two.
At Siteimprove, I use :catjam: and :cool_doge: almost exclusively, and they're pinned to my frequently-used reaction emojis by default.
Acknowledging a message? catjam.
Supporting a colleague? cooldoge.
Made a mistake? catjam.
Metrics going up? cooldoge.
It's an easy little trick to get people to remember you when you start a new role, and at this point I've used them so much that my teammates have started to react to *my* messages with these emojis. I'm not the only person allowed to use them, obviously, but if you see one of these in Slack you know it's probably related to me somehow.
And as an added bonus, that silly cat or dog bobbing its head makes me smile and keep me from stressing out about things that are out of my control. | 19 comments on LinkedIn
