As we count down to our first Inaugural Gator Nurses Day on May 11th, we’re looking back at the moments that helped shape our college. In 1982, the UF College of Nursing introduced its first
#GatoRNursing midwifery program. Founded by Dr. Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hilliard, the program was created to educate specialized practitioners focused on the care of mothers and infants. Pictured here, Dr. Hilliard works alongside a student with a mother and her newborn, capturing the spirit of teaching, learning and care that continues today.
