In my last reel, I asked you to guess the rasam — and I don’t think anyone got it right!
It was munakkaya rasam (drumstick rasam) — soothing, healthy, and just what I needed that day.
I paired it with a simple fish fry, and together… it was pure comfort on a plate.

Here’s how I made it:
Drumstick Rasam:
– Pressure cook toor dal, tomato, garlic pods, drumsticks, and a pinch of turmeric with some water.
– Strain the cooked dal, gradually adding more water to extract all the goodness.
– Pound some fresh rasam powder with cumin, black pepper seeds, and coriander seeds, and mix it into the rasam.
– Add salt and let it come to a good boil.
– Finish with a tempering, turn off the heat, and add lemon juice and chopped coriander. Done!
Fish Fry:
– Marinate fish with ginger-garlic paste, salt, chili powder, turmeric.
