The Seattle Kraken announced plans to break ground in May on a $60M, privately financed ice complex in Kirkland at the former Houghton Park and Ride site.
The two–NHL-size rink facility is expected to open in Fall 2027 and will help meet growing demand for ice time beyond the team’s Northgate Iceplex.
The City of Kirkland purchased the land for $9M in 2024 and will lease it to the Kraken for $1 under a 34-year agreement with extension options, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.
