Happy birthday, Kaska! At the impressive age of 16, this amazing gray wolf has lived over twice as long as most wolves in the wild. He is truly a special boy who still dotes on his companion, Renner, and continues to patrol, always monitoring the activity of Detroit Zoo staff around his habitat. Since Kaska came to the Detroit Zoo over 10 years ago, he has been in expert hands, receiving regular health exams and treatments that improved his quality of life. Now that he has moved into needing geriatric care, our animal care team is more committed than ever to giving him everything he needs to remain comfortable in his golden years. Habitat modifications like added fans and sand beds help to keep this boy feeling good in the warmer months.
