My visit to uva 🧡💙🧡💙 The 25th annual Emily Couric Leadership Forum luncheon awarded scholarships to eleven amazing high school seniors from Charlottesville, bringing the grand total of 2.4 million dollars in scholarships given to 228 young women since 2001. The young women this year are incredibly impressive as they are every year. Olympic gold medalist swimmer gretchwalsh2 (UVA class of 2022) was given the annual leadership award and I had the pleasure of interviewing her..and comparing wingspans. (Guess who won? 😂) My sister Emily was a state senator and was running for Lt. Governor when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She believed deeply in the importance of education and paying it forward. It was so nice to have so many family members there (Kiki, I’m sorry you got sick!) and I was so happy Jim and Katie Ryan came as well.
