Whether it’s her Broadway directorial debut for the revival of “For Colored Girls” (which made her the first Black woman to direct and choreograph a Broadway play since Katherine Dunham in 1955), or her contributions to Terence Blanchard’s “Fire Shut Up in My Bones (which made her one of the first Black artists to direct a mainstage production at The Metropolitan Opera), or her sold-out masterclass at E-Moves Festival just last week, her work is living proof of the culture-shifting power of dance.
