I’ve been very clear: I support the ballot initiative to restore reproductive healthcare in Idaho. But here’s what too many people are ignoring. Some believe doctors will always step in during complications. The reality is far more serious. Under Idaho’s total abortion ban, there are no clear protections for physicians to act when a mother’s health is at risk. Doctors are being forced into impossible decisions. Risk their license and liberty or risk a life. And many are choosing to leave rather than practice under that uncertainty. We already see a loss of OB-GYNs across the state. And when they leave, access to prenatal care, emergency care, and basic healthcare disappears with them. This is not about politics or morality debates. It’s about real outcomes for real families.
