Staten Island native Gregg Atlas lived with his wife, JoAnn, and their two children in Howells, New York, where the family raised cows and grew tomatoes, melons, and other vegetables. Atlas, whose three brothers were also firefighters, was a member of FDNY Engine Company 10. On 9/11, Lieutenant Atlas was seen ascending a stairwell in the North Tower to search for survivors.
