It’s Stop Food Waste Day! 🌱 At North Broward Preparatory School, composting is the cornerstone of how we fight food waste and the impact is real and measurable. Through our Food Waste Composting Program in partnership with local composter Filthy Organics, we have diverted 193,875 pounds of food waste from landfills. That success equals 1,278 seedlings planted 192,324 miles of emissions offset 8,723 gallons of gasoline saved Our Middle School students play an important role each day by helping sort dishes, food waste, and trash in the cafeteria, reinforcing sustainable habits that last well beyond campus. In addition to composting, we support sustainability by using reusable service ware across our cafeterias and by earning recognition as an Ocean Friendly Restaurant as part of the Surfrider mission.
