There’s a difference between attention and love. Flaunting your sexuality and being promiscuous will get you attention. People will want to utilise your body in exchange for short-term pleasure. But attention isn’t care, and it isn’t commitment. The long-term risk and damage often outweigh the short-term reward. You might end up pregnant with someone you don’t even like and be tied into a situation you never truly wanted. You might face the emotional weight of an abortion. You can experience being used and discarded, which slowly erodes your self-esteem. There’s also the risk of infections or STDs—some of which don’t go away. And above all else, once you start down a path of risky behaviour, you open the door to consequences that can’t always be undone. So while the world may glorify promiscuity, it comes with real trade-offs.
