LIONS TAME MONARCHS: The jserra.baseball team used a late offensive explosion to rally for a 10-6 road victory over the Mater Dei Monarchs in a Trinity League game on Friday at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. JSerra trailed 3-1 heading into the sixth inning, but the offense roared to life. Junior Shane D’Arcy was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and advanced to second base on a single by junior Ayden Coleman. Freshman Joey Koenig smacked an RBI double to left field to score D’Arcy, which was followed by an RBI single to right field by junior Aidan Rae to tie the game. Junior Logan Osmundson provided the inning’s biggest swing, as he connected on a three-run homerun (his first of the season) to left field to propel the Lions to a 6-3 lead. Mater Dei responded with three runs on two homeruns in the bottom of the inning to tie the contest at 6-6.
