TDN’s Keeneland Case Studies series, highlighting Keeneland Sales success stories, continues this week with the spotlight on a sale graduate turned graded stakes winner and, now, a leading contender for Friday’s GI Longines Kentucky Oaks: MEANING ✨
Since her early days at Stonehaven Steadings, the Gun Runner filly out of Figure of Speech has given a deeper ‘Meaning’ to natural talent. Part of the Stonehaven Steadings consignment in Book 1 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Meaning sold for $440,000 to Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Bridlewood Farm.
After breaking her maiden on debut in September of her 2-year-old season, Meaning followed up with a fourth-place finish in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. The Michael McCarthy trainee has since gone undefeated this year as a 3-year-old, with back-to-back victories in the Las Virgenes Stakes and GII Santa Anita Oaks, all leading to her tallest task yet in Friday’s GI Longines Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs.
