Today, the Supreme Court turned its back on Black voters and other voter communities already experiencing voter suppression. Instead of defending our right to vote, the court decided to undermine the Voting Rights Act and roll back its protections The ruling comes at a time where both Black communities are already seeing an onslaught on our freedoms and rights. From concerted attack on DEI to discriminatory redistricting, Black political power and the voting rights we’ve tenaciously fought for are being chipped away. We condemn this decision, but we won’t claim defeat.
