Bangladesh Enters Nuclear Era ☢️🇧🇩
Bangladesh formally entered the nuclear power era on Tuesday, April 28, as uranium fuel loading began at Unit-1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi, Pabna, marking the country’s transition from construction to commissioning of its first-ever nuclear facility. The historic milestone makes Bangladesh the 33rd country in the world to generate electricity using nuclear energy and the third in South Asia after India and Pakistan.
The fuel loading process began after 3:30 PM and is expected to take between 21 and 30 days. Officials said the reactor core will be warmed up within three months by gradually withdrawing neutron absorbers, after which electricity will be generated on a trial basis and fed into the national grid.
