#JSUGrad26: “If I could be remembered for one thing, I want it to be known that I didn't do this for the limelight. I did it for the legacy. My journey with the Sonic Boom of the South was a full-circle story rooted in the streets of Jackson. From the nights I spent as a child listening to the band’s distant echo across Medgar Evers, to seeing my uncles and father carry the torch of musicianship, JSU was always my destiny. Because my father left the band early to pursue a professional music career, my five-year journey as a first-generation graduate was an opportunity to complete that legacy for him. I became a student of the craft long before I stepped onto the field. From fourth grade through high school, I studied the films of legends like Byron Joseph, Nathaniel Kenner and James Wesby on YouTube.
