#USOC2026: A pair of late goals in regulation and extra time sent the houstondynamo through to the Quarterfinals and deny the visiting USL side louisvillecityfc a Cupset. The Dynamo’s Jack McGlynn had a chance to put the home team ahead early in the first half with a penalty kick, but Louisville City’s Danny Faundez made a save. The game was scoreless until Chris Donovan found Ray Serrano alone at the back post to give Louisville City a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute. It looked like City was going to see the lead through to the final whistle as Houston struggled to create chances, but in the 89th minute Héctor Herrera’s cross found the head of defender Erik Sviatchenko to send the game to extra time. A second Houston goal by Ezequiel Ponce was enough to punch Houston’s ticket to the Quarterfinals. Houston will play St. Louis City SC in the Quarterfinals on either May 19 or 20.
