It’s very difficult to put into words, and into context, how much this football club means – and how much being an Evertonian, especially in this city, means to people. It’s an honour, it really is. Everton embodies what the city is all about. We’ve celebrated big success throughout our history and, in times of adversity, this football club comes into its own. Football is everywhere in this city and it’s 24/7. You speak to anyone, in any profession, and you’ll end up talking about football. Then, when you say, ‘I’m a Blue’, ‘I’m an Evertonian’, it gives you a real sense of pride, it puts a smile on your face. It’s an exciting time for everyone involved with the Club, and the new stadium is a big part of that. It looks really good from the outside but when you get inside, it’s a cathedral.
