Today, we are crowning dancer and activist Sydney Mesher as our #QueenoftheWeek 👑 Originally from Portland, Oregon, Mesher was born without her left hand due to a rare congenital limb abnormality called symbrachydactyly. She found her passion for dance at a young age, starting classes at just three years old and continuing through college, where she pursued dance at Pace University. In 2019, Mesher made history when she joined the Radio City Rockettes. When she joined, she became the first Rockette with a visible disability in the 91 years since the troupe was founded. Since then, she’s danced on the “Today Show,” the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and NHK Japan’s Live Spring Broadcast. Mesher is passionate about using her platform to advocate for disability awareness and increased representation in entertainment, and she fights for a dance community that includes and celebrates all body types and abilities.
