#TakeActionTuesday: #NationalAdaptiveSportDay is a time to focus on advancing inclusion in sports and highlighting the power of the disability community. Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the signing of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This landmark civil rights legislation barred discrimination against people with disabilities in all federally funded programs, including sports and recreation. When we increase access to adaptive sports, it improves physical and mental health, builds confidence, and creates community. WSF’s commitment to women athletes with disabilities comes to life through initiatives like the Travel & Training Fund and the Scout Bassett Grant – providing the access and resources professional athletes in adaptive sports need to compete and succeed.
