I challenge myself to make one great photo a day, figuring if I don’t get one great one, I might get a handful of good ones. Was on assignment for mlbphotos as the Seattle Mariners faced the Kansas City Royals, on a night where the Mariners retired the jersey of legendary pitcher Randy Johnson, and managed to find a couple of frames. Mariners left fielder Randy Arozarena got a great jump on a line drive into the gap, and made an incredible diving catch to rob Kansas City’s Vinnie Pasquantino to end the top of the 8th inning. Cool note - the Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 S lens has a built-in teleconverter that is easy to switch to mid-play. From the photo well outside of third base, I was able to shoot Pasquantino’s swing at 400mm, then convert to the teleconverter while the ball was in the air, and in time to make a frame of the ball before it reaches Arozarena’s glove. Also, thank you Nikon autofocus!!! Cool dive, great catch, fun celebration with teammate Julio Rodriguez. Nikon Z 9, Nikk...
