After more than two decades of leadership, mentorship and championship success, Ed Gosek has announced his retirement as head coach of the SUNY Oswego men’s ice hockey program. The news came on Thursday, April 30th. Gosek, a native of Oswego and graduate of Oswego State (‘83), ends his long-time coaching tenure with the Lakers after a total of 36 seasons as an assistant (1990-2003) & head coach (2003-2026). He also skated for the Lakers as a student-athlete from 1979-1983. Oswego State & Gosek, as head coach, had an overall record of 427-149-38 (.695) to become one of the most accomplished programs in #NCAA Division III ice hockey. The Lakers captured their first-ever National Championship in 2007 while also making the Frozen Four for five straight seasons from 2010-2014.
