May is National Water Safety Month
When we lost our son Stewie in a drowning accident in 1989, we decided to do everything we could to prevent other families from experiencing the same tragedy. We started the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation, leading us to write 2 books and raise $6 million for water safety awareness and education.
Our dream was always to open a swim school. We now have TWO! One in Norwalk CT and one in Clifton NJ. š
Drowning is a leading cause of death for children 4-years-old and under, but those who receive swim lessons are 88% less likely to drown. If our son knew how to float and roll over onto his back, he might still be with us today.
Our mission at the Stewie the Duck Swim School is to save lives, one lesson at a time. All the profits from the Swim School will go back to funding free or low-cost swim lessons for children in need. Our goal is to fund at least 20,000 free swimming lessons every year!
