Castle Dracula
June 13, 1980 – January 31, 1983
One of Universal Studios Hollywood’s earliest indoor stage shows, Castle Dracula transformed the Castle Theatre into a dark, atmospheric experience. Featuring Dracula, Igor, and even an animatronic Phantom of the Opera, the show blended live performance, special effects, and audience participation.
Guests were pulled from the crowd and transformed into classic monsters like Frankenstein’s Monster, the Bride, and the Wolf Man. With full control of lighting and sound, the production delivered a level of immersion that helped define the future of the venue.
Fun fact: Dracula wore a replica of the ring used by Bela Lugosi in the 1931 film.
