What do you do when it's too hot to canvass? Community service (indoors), of course. My family and I had a great time serving our community over the past 3 days (almost 12 hours of service). We volunteered at some nonprofits that we didn't know about, which was a great learning experience. We also went back to some of our favorites. One of the benefits of community service (other than helping our community members) is job exposure. Prior to this weekend, my teens all thought they wanted to secure their first "real" job at a place they like to eat (e.g., McDonalds, Chipotle, Subway). But, after prepping meals to serve 700 people and cutting over 60 heads of lettuce and mopping floors, they have decided that they DO NOT want to work at a fast food place.
