Father and Son CASAs Champion Boys in Foster Care đź’™ It all started with a simple Voices for Children magnet spotted at a Voices for Children volunteer recruitment table at a local Walmart. For Michael and Shawn, a father and son from Riverside County, that magnet sparked a journey that would lead them to become advocates for some of the most vulnerable children in our community.
After learning more about Voices for Children’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, Shawn was inspired to take the first step. He enrolled in Advocate University, the organization’s extensive training program that prepares volunteers to stand up for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Moved by his son's dedication, Michael soon followed. Though Shawn began the journey first, the two graduated together — and now serve as CASA volunteers for their own case youth.
