Families in Malawi face serious challenges from limited access to clean water, poor sanitation, and ongoing food insecurity made worse by drought. Chiimba Church of the Nazarene is addressing these needs through a holistic project that provides clean water, community hygiene, and agriculture education. A newly constructed borehole well is having an immediate impact. The church established a water point committee to monitor and repair the well when needed. Hundreds of families in this community can now access clean, safe drinking water. “Women suffered the most with absence of a borehole as they had to travel extensive distances to obtain water from a neighboring village,” said a village leader. “Sometimes they would collect water from other sources which were contaminated and this led to illnesses.
