Every Second Saturday, we share a real story of a local child or sibling group in the foster care system in our series ‘One Child at a Time.’ This month, we share the story of “David.” The teenager, who suffers from developmental delays and several health challenges, has been in foster care for more than six years and has moved more times that he can count on both hands. Each new placement - out of his control - causes stress and anxiety and, all too often, setbacks in his health. When his CASA, "Serena," learned David would be moving yet again, she knew they needed to try something new this time. He had shown interest in music before, and Serena went out on a limb. She applied for a scholarship for the teen to receive music therapy. It was a hit! She shared, "David loves to show off his percussion skills, especially on the bongo drums and triangle." Help us congratulate David and Serena on a successful transition and positive placement for the young man!
