It's the second Saturday of the month, when we share a real story of a local child or sibling group in our 'One Child at a Time' series. This month, we share the story of "Esme." Esme and her older brother were found in a park after being left there by their mother, who struggled with mental illness. CASA "Laura" was assigned to the siblings, who were placed in separate foster homes across San Diego County. Laura spent time with them each week, sometimes individually and sometimes together. After several months, an aunt and uncle were identified and agreed to take in both Esme and her brother. Thanks to Laura's time with each child, she was able to provide the children's aunt and uncle with a great deal of information and helped make it a smooth transition for all. Today, Esme is thriving in her new home! #OneChildataTime
