It's the second Saturday of the month, when we share a real story of a local child or sibling group in our 'One Child at a Time' series. This month, we share the story of "Mikey." Mikey was removed from his mother due to neglect. As a young man struggling to make sense of his situation, Mikey missed his mom very much. He even used his musical talents to write songs about her and shared them with his CASA, "Jeff." Then, one day, CASA Jeff received the news that Mikey's mother had unexpectedly passed away. Knowing how much his mother meant to him, Jeff immediately went to be with Mikey, who was distraught. Throughout the grieving process over the weeks and months following, Mikey leaned on his CASA for support. Without the strong relationship Jeff had built, a grieving son would not have had a trusted adult to help him through this difficult time. #OneChildataTime
