It's already the second Saturday in March, and that means it's time for our next 'One Child at a Time' story! This month, we share the story of "Kayla," a teenager who along with her siblings has entered foster care more than once. She is currently in Extended Foster Care (EFC), which provides continued support for youth after they turn 18 as they transition into adulthood. Kayla was working and attending community college classes until, one day, she was diagnosed with cancer. Despite some aggressive treatments, Kayla's cancer has not gone into remission. But thanks to CASA "Pamela," she has received incredible support. CASA Pamela visits Kayla regularly, participates in doctor visits, and ensures everyone on the case is on the same page for treatment. While Kayla has a long road ahead of her, Pamela is committed to being with her each step of the way.
