Every Second Saturday, we share a real story of a local child or sibling group in the foster care system in our series titled ‘One Child at a Time.' This month, we will share the story of “Angelina” and "Taylor." The siblings, age 6 and 2, have experienced so much trauma in their young lives, including drug usage and domestic violence in their home. Little Angelina even witnesssed her father's suicide at just 3 years old. Thankfully, CASA "Alyssa" has been on their case for the past three years and has helped ensure the children receive the therapy they so desperately need. In addition, a relative stepped forward to adopt Angelina and Taylor! After observing the children in this new placement, Alyssa was happy to see them doing well and recommended to the judge that they move forward with adoption. This past October, the adoption was finalized and the siblings are now in their forever home!
