Jurrangelo Cijntje is a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, but he’s not just any ordinary pitcher. He is an extremely unique athlete, as he is ambidextrous, giving him a distinct advantage as an MLB pitcher, as he can throw over 90 miles per hour with both his left and right arms.
Cijntje being able to throw from both sides gives baseball managers a massive advantage, as lineups are often made depending on the pitcher and whether he is a lefty or a righty, since right handed pitchers are more advantageous for left handed batters, and left handed pitchers are more favorable for right handed batters, for visibility purposes.
You have heard of switch hitters, but have you ever heard of a switch pitcher? I never have until I’ve heard of Jurrangelo Cijntje. This is absolutely crazy to me, and if he can develop in the minor leagues, he will be an asset for any Major League Baseball team to have as a tool, matchup plugging him in to strike out the opposition.
