Anant Ambani, son of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has offered to house 80 of Pablo Escobar’s hippos at his private zoo, Vantara animal sanctuary. A few weeks ago, Colombia planned to cull 80 of these animals. The animals were originally imported into Colombia by the dr*g kingpin for his own entertainment. Since then, their population has exploded to around 160 individuals and their presence is now endangering native species. Colombian government said the animals attacked fishermen and are destroying parts of the Magdalena River. Officials authorized the plan to kill dozens of these hippos as they had exhausted all other possibilities to manage the population.
