‘Timmy’ the humpback whale has reached the North Sea, after he was stranded in Germany for five weeks. In a mission funded by two German entrepreneurs, a tugboat pulling a water-filled barge was part of the complex rescue to haul the whale from the shallows of the German island of Poel. Some marine experts have said the efforts to save the animal may have been in vain, with the sick whale unlikely to survive even in deeper waters. Environment minister for the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Till Backhaus said "the very worst is already behind him now," and that he made sounds during the night. #HumpbackWhale #Timmy #Germany
