This week’s Shabbat Shout Out goes to 9th Grader Rachel Rojhani for an incredible achievement in science and innovation. Rachel was named a finalist at the Colorado State Science and Engineering Fair, where she designed, programmed, and prototyped a system to remove dust from solar panels on Mars rovers—helping extend their lifespan and functionality. It’s the kind of project that blends curiosity, technical skill, and real-world problem solving…on another planet. Which is, in totally unscientific terms, so awesome! Rachel shared that she’s already looking ahead and can’t wait to expand on this project for next year’s fair. She also credits longtime science teacher and department chair Melanie Knowles for encouraging her to compete and helping her shape the direction of her research.
