Photo philosophy ahead - read the following if that interests you, or just enjoy this image of Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith being introduced before kickoff on Sunday.
If you follow me, you know that my goal is always “to make one great photo today”.
The Seahawks game on Sunday was no different. It was a day game with predictably unpredictable Seattle fall weather (sun, wind, rain, clouds, then sun again, then rain again).
I shot over 100 images of players being introduced and running by me. Most were pretty straightforward of players running right to left through the frame. However, this frame of Geno caught my eye. A key element of any great image is the light, and when Geno turned towards the sun, the light was right. Another important element is composition - here the subject is centered, not in a traditional rule of thirds, but the next important element - background, helps frame him.
