The Palace of Fine Arts is an iconic San Francisco building found in the Marina District. Built less than a decade after the devastating 1906 earthquake, it was the “crown jewel” of the century’s first world’s fair. The Corinthian columns and Greco-Roman rotunda punctuated by the lagoon, captivate visitors and locals alike.
Growing up, I associated the Palace of Fine Arts with the Exploratorium - a beloved field trip destination for Bay Area students. (As of 2013, The Exploratorium moved to Pier 15 and is also worth a visit during a trip to SF).
I was thrilled to have an excuse last week to return and once again marvel at this magnificent historic structure.
